FAQs

  • No. It is a popular misconception that a mattress has to be firm to be good for you. Although some people may prefer a firmer feel, a mattress that provides correct support with low pressure points is a far better option. A mattress that is too firm will not support the body evenly, thus creating pressure points, usually at the shoulders and hips which can result in a disturbed sleep.

  • There are numerous spring systems available on the market, with the premium beds using individual heat tempered springs, which greatly reduce partner disturbance and eliminates roll together. All Sleepyhead springs units are heat tempered. Premium mattresses will also offer targeted support to hip and shoulder regions. In the mid price range, most beds use inner spring support systems. The most advanced of these systems use continuous heat tempered wire springs, which are linked head to toe to help prevent roll together. Cheaper beds generally use spring systems where springs are linked across the bed, and in some instances increase roll together. These beds won’t give the life of more advanced spring systems.

  • It may take several weeks for you to become accustomed to your new sleeping surface. In a top quality mattress, the comfort layers will mould to your body shape, enhancing your sleeping comfort. Generally, beds will soften over time. For the best results to give a consistent feel, the springs must be heat tempered. While Latex comfort layers are superior and won’t break down it must be noted that the body changes over time and these changes may lead to the mattress feeling different.

  • Latex Gold is made from 100% natural rubber, whereas some manufacturers using the ’talalay’ process produces a synthetic rubber which can be made from raw materials derived from substances such as coal, oil, natural gas and acetylene.

  • Latex is a natural product where foam is synthetic. Pure latex rubber has the ability to disperse moisture, is antibacterial, mould free and dust free. Latex gives a 100% rebound providing orthopaedic support.

  • Your body should tell you when it’s time for a new bed. If you regularly wake up feeling stiff and sore or if you are not sleeping as well as you did a year ago, it may be time to replace what you’re sleeping on. At least twice a year, check for visible signs of wear and tear and ask yourself if you’re sleeping better or worse than you did a year ago. If worse, a new bed may be the answer to improve your sleep.

  • There are four basic elements of an ensemble: •The quilted top •The comfort layers •The innerspring unit •The base. Each of these work together to provide customised comfort and different levels of firmness. Characteristics that affect firmness are thickness (or gauge) of the wire in the spring unit, the combination and quantity of the comfort layers and the quilting material.

  • Today’s plusher, premium bedding feature increased mattress heights. Older type sheets may not fit these new mattresses however most linen manufacturers are increasing the depths of their fitted sheets. A fitted sheet drop of 42cm will fit all Beds R Us mattresses

  • Yes, Beds R Us make a number of beds especially for children. Consider buying a King Single; the extra length will mean your child will have more room once they begin to grow.

  • Always buy the biggest bed you can. The more room you have in your bed the better quality of sleep you will have, especially if you’re sleeping with a partner. Two people sleeping together should select a queen or preferably a king size mattress and base to ensure both individuals have enough space for a good nights sleep.
